December at Inhotim
In the first two weeks of the month, from December 1 to 17, Inhotim opens from Wednesday through Sunday. From December 20 to 31, Inhotim opens from Wednesday through Saturday, but closes on December 24, 25 and 31, and January 1, 2024. Secure your ticket in advance and avoid queues.
Take advantage of your day off and visit Quarto Ato – O Quilombismo: Documentos de uma Militância Pan-Africanista [Fourth Act – Quilombismo: Documents of a Pan-Africanist Militancy], an exhibition that covers the trajectory of Abdias Nascimento and concludes the cycle of the Abdias Nascimento and the Black Art Museum Program at the Mata Gallery.
At the Marcenaria Gallery, discover Luana Vitra’s commissioned work, the installation Giro (2023), which marks the beginning of the space’s new vocation, which now hosts temporary exhibitions.
Also visit the Yayoi Kusama Gallery, which features two immersive installations by the artist. Check the visitation rules.
At the Praça Gallery, Mônica Ventura occupies the space with A noite suspensa ou o que posso aprender com o silêncio [The suspended night or what I can learn from silence] (2023) and Mestre Didi continues on view with the exhibition Mestre Didi – os iniciados no mistério não morrem [Mestre Didi – those initiated in the mystery do not die].
At the Lago Gallery, Fazer o moderno, construir o contemporâneo: Rubem Valentim [Making the modern, building the contemporary: Rubem Valentim] features paintings,
reliefs, objects and emblems from a period of more than 30 years of production by Rubem Valentim. At the Fonte Gallery, Direito à forma [Right to form] presents the relationship between form and narrative in the production of thirty black artists from Brazil, portraying the possibilities of authorship in the relationship between form and narrative.

Educational and Musical Programming
Discover Inhotim’s spaces and collections on the Panoramic Tour, held daily at 10:30 am. On December 6, Educativo Inhotim invites you to reflect on health, well-being, nature and art in the Well-Being Themed Visit.
Based on the ideas of Beatriz Nascimento and the exhibition Right to Form, the Themed Visit “Form and possibilities in Contemporary Art: Atlantic Relations between Brazil and Africa” invites the public on December 02, 03, 09 and 10 to reflect on the possibilities of artistic expression beyond figurative painting.
During the Themed Visit Through the paths of sculpture, which takes place on the December 16, 17, 23 and 30, learn more about the notions of sculpture and the relationship between historically used materials and the Inhotim collection.
Throughout the month, the program of the Rubem Valentim Atelier at the Lago Gallery features workshops, a mediation laboratory, round tables and pedagogical devices—learn more here.
On December 3, the Inhotim String Quartet performs at the Fundação de Educação Artística, with pieces by Missy Mazzoli, Tan Dun, Philip Glass and Marcos Balter. More information here.
