The surface of Linda do Rosário (2004) makes reference to regular tiles, white ceramic squares that are often seen in aseptic environments, like kitchens and bathrooms. Painted viscera then come out of what would be the guts of this ruined wall – a feature of the Charques series, produced by the artist since the 2000s.

In these sculptures, the architecture is associated with the body, while the construction materials become flesh. The artist takes as the point of departure the crumbling down of Hotel Linda do Rosário that took place in the center of Rio de Janeiro in 2002, and the romantic idealized mystery of two guests, a possible couple of lovers, that chose to remain in the room even after being alerted of its imminent collapse.
