Traveling Workshop

The Traveling Workshop transforms every corner of the museum and botanical garden into a space for artistic exploration, engaging with diverse artistic languages. Each week, the workshop travels to a new location, inviting participants to explore how different spaces help us discover new ways to create and experience art and nature.

Check out the Traveling Workshop program for May.

  • Headlines from the Future, by Clara Duarte

This workshop reimagines the printed newspaper—not as a record of reality, but as a gateway to the impossible, the improbable, and the yet-to-come. Through absurd headlines and stories that challenge the logic of the present, we will invent a time that does not respond to calendars or algorithms.

    May 1, 3, and 4 at 2:00 p.m.

    Capacity: 25 participants | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Galeria Mata [G1] | Registration: On-site starting at 2:00 p.m. | Age Rating: All ages

  • Between Memories and Oblivion, by Daniela Brandão

This Traveling Workshop invites participants to reflect on the memories that make us who we are. Artistic techniques will be explored in dialogue with the work Neither (2004) by Doris Salcedo, encouraging reflection on how our memories help tell the story of who we are.

    Capacity: 25 participants | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Galeria Doris Salcedo [G8] |Registration: On-site starting at 2:00 p.m. | Age Rating: All ages

  • Creative Energy: Light Painting Workshop

In celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Minas Gerais Energy Company (CEMIG), a strategic partner of the Traveling Workshop, the Education team is offering a light painting workshop. Participants will explore light painting as a technique for expressing ideas that dialogue with sustainability principles.

The artistic practice of Rebeca Carapiá involves the creation of a new language, often expressed through organic forms. Drawing inspiration from the work Apenas depois da chuva (Only After the Rain; 2024), participants will invent new ways to use words through the bending and malleability of wire.

    May 24 and 31 at 2:00 p.m.
