In this untitled work from 2001, the starting point is a major iron sheet covering the wall and taking over the floor of the space. In it, a big set of shattered magnets is regrouped, recalling the shape of a ‘tacape’ (indigenous weapon). On the ground, on top of the metal surface, a huge cane gathers bells, bowls, funnels, and containers that refer to lab materials. Placed among the objects, the lights add a dramatic layer to them, recalling fire – the element used in both cooking and alchemy.

Both activities are marked by the combination, transformation, and transmutation of elements over time. In 2012, for the inauguration of the gallery and as part of the instauration process of the works, the cauldrons of this work were used to make angu, a cornmeal-based preparation that was served as food for the men who were elaborating the work Tereza (1998).
