A plant of great ornamental value, it is widely cultivated in the tropics, subtropics, and temperate regions, originating in Southeast Asia. It can reach 2 to 4 meters in height and 15 to 20 centimeters in diameter, which is why many call it a "mini-palm". During the summer, its fruits are abundant and attract birds.
