Rirkrit Tiravanija studied art at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada, between 1980 and 1984. His works are platforms for artistic activities, both public and private. They are usually architectural structures conceived in their social/collective dimension: stages or rooms where the public can share meals, read, or play music. In his projects, this active participation of the spectator is considered a fundamental part of the work. So much so that the captions of his works frequently include the term "a lot of people" as part of the materials used. Throughout his career, he has participated in editions of the Sharjah Biennial (United Arab Emirates), the São Paulo Biennial, the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial (USA), and the Venice Biennale (Italy).
