In the sculpture we see Pinocchio – a wooden puppet created in 1883 by the Italian writer Carlo Collodi (1826–1890) and popularized in the 1940s by Walt Disney – sitting on books. Originally likeable and charismatic, the character is presented here in a grotesque manner, with his head replaced by an immense cube. Although this image corresponds to the literal translation of the work's title, the expression “block head.” also means “stupid”.

In this connection between the work and its title, a common practice in Paul McCarthy's production is evident: a critique of elements of American consumer and entertainment culture, especially in the film industry.
