Palíndromo Incesto (1990-1992) was exhibited in the show “Latin American Artists of the Twentieth Century,” which toured European institutions and ended at MoMA – Museum of Modern Art in New York, in 1993. Its title points to important keys to interpretation. A palindrome is a word or phrase that, when read backward, retains its original meaning. This circular dynamic, between letters or words, is repeated throughout Tunga's production, through his interest in movement, transformation, and cycles.

"Incest," on the other hand, can be added to its literal meaning (sexual act between relatives), or a play on words – in basket (in the basket). The enlarged elements allude to weaving tools, such as needle, thimble, thread and basket, and are covered by magnets and copper sheets, creating an invisible magnetic tension field in space.
