Jorge Macchi studied art at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. Since the late 1980s, he has worked with various media, from drawing to installation, from painting to artist's books. In his works, memory is rescued and stories that have been made invisible over time are retold. To do this, the artist uses situations and objects taken from everyday life, such as maps, musical scores, news articles, and newspaper pages.
Among his most important exhibitions are Brave New Worlds, at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (USA, 2007); and Latin America, 1963-2013, at the Fondation Cartier for Contemporary Art, (France, 2013); in addition to participating in the São Paulo, Istanbul (Turkey), Mercosur and Lyon (France) biennials.
