John Ahearn & Rigoberto Torres have worked as a duo since 1979, when they began projects in which naturalistic sculptures were created from their relationships and involvement with members of different community groups. African Americans and Hispanic Americans, residents of the Bronx (a New York City suburb), posed as models for many of these works.

Initially, the works featured individual portraits, but later these figures began to appear together in scenes from everyday life. His works have been exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Bronx Museum (USA), the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston (USA), the Charlie James Gallery (USA), and the Alexander and Bonin Gallery (USA).
