Composed of plant species typically found in the Americas, Africa, and Asia, the Pictorial Garden dates back to the beginning of Inhotim's history. It is the oldest garden and, in the 1980s, received a visit from Roberto Burle Marx, one of Brazil's most renowned landscape architects.
In 2025, the Pictorial Garden underwent an intervention that restored elements of its original composition. In addition, it now features 30 more species from Malaysia, contributing to the creation of contrasts between light and dark, new curves, and more colors and textures.
The garden showcases the Institute's unique character: the meeting of art and nature. Amidst winding paths, there are outdoor works, such as those by artists Cildo Meireles and Olafur Eliasson , in addition to the landscaping created by Pedro Nehring, with vibrant colors, diverse forms, shadows and beams of filtered light, and many other elements that stimulate the eye.
