Opened in 2009, the gallery houses Continente/Nuvem (2008), composed of 50 translucent plates that support 13 kilos of polystyrene balls. Looking at the ceiling, the viewer observes, backlit, the continuous and random movement of the balls. The ventilation system, hidden in the structure, ensures the unpredictable displacement of hundreds of balls, simulating the movement of clouds. Located in a central point of Inhotim, the Rivane Neuenschwander Gallery is one of the oldest buildings in the museum, dating from 1874, and is a remnant of the old Inhotim Farm.

The garden surrounding the house contrasts with the institution's landscape design, which was inspired by the backyards of rural communities of the time, and consisted of ornamental plants, fruit trees, and medicinal herbs. 

The work is part of a recurring process in Rivane's artistic research, which uses children's games as a starting point to discuss political themes. In this way, Continent/Cloud reflects on large migratory flows and maps in successive transformations, which constantly alter global geography.
