Inaugurated in 2008, the gallery's name references its former function: in the initial phase of the Inhotim Institute, before becoming an exhibition space, it served the institution's needs for producing wooden pieces. In order to preserve the building's memory, the project by Arquitetos Associados proposed few interventions, such as an exhibition room. Currently, the gallery houses two works on a long-term basis: La Intimidad de la Luz de St. Ives (1997) by Victor Grippo, and the video De lama lâmina (2004), by Matthew Barney.
