Vegetation Room Inhotim (2010-2012) is a work conceived specifically for a clearing in the woods of the Inhotim Institute. As the artist defined it: “I built a roofless, open-air vegetal room in the middle of the forest, with stainless steel walls that reflect nature and therefore disappear, camouflage themselves.”
The work consists of a mirrored structure, whose interior resembles a labyrinth. Not all spaces are accessible; one must look outside, at the surroundings, to find the next door. The relationship between sculpture and architecture permeates Cristina Iglesias's work and serves as a starting point for her pieces, which draw inspiration from 19th-century fantasy literature and science fiction.
