Designed by architect Paulo Orsini, the Cildo Meireles Gallery opened in 2004 and, after two years, underwent alterations to its original design. Currently, three works by the artist are on display: Através (1983-89), Desvio para o vermelho: Impregnação; Entorno; Desvio (1967-1984) and Glove Trotter (1991).

Each work occupies a room, independent of the others, highlighting its spatial dimension. The room that houses AtravésFor example, it has two access doors, allowing visitors to cross the gallery and reach Largo das Orquídeas, a themed garden in front of the Fonte Gallery. Analyzed as a whole, these three works draw attention to the importance of the viewer's perception.
