Entre Terras (2021)

Entre Terras This is a solo exhibition by the artist Aleksandra Mir, currently on display at the Praça Gallery, comprising four drawings from the series. Mediterranean (2007). The work questions the sociopolitical forces that shape national and local identities. The reflection comes from the stateless experience that the artist accumulated throughout her life, after going through four migrations during the period she lived in Sicily, an island in the Italian Mediterranean. From Latin, "Mediterranean" means "sea between lands," a place of frequent social, political, and cultural conflicts.
Since the early 1990s, the artist has devoted special attention to Sharpie pens, exploring a variety of gray tones, with their ink losing intensity during use. The drawings draw inspiration from Gothic and modernist aesthetics. cartum, expressing the artist's conceptual humor.
