Equilíbrio Amarrado; Embrionário

Eucalyptus, cedar, and iron pine wood, variable dimensions; Espírito Santo marble, variable dimensions.
Both works center on elements that are fundamental to the artist's production: weight and balance. Embrionário (2003), shown alongside, is Elisa Bracher's first sculpture to retain the raw form of the tree trunk. The articulation between the pieces, which together weigh 13 tons, is achieved through a dynamic of support and tension between their parts.
Em Equilíbrio amarrado (2004),(below) blocks of marble also create a relationship between instability and support in a structure that reaches six meters in height.
