In the 1980s, Doug Aitken studied fine arts and illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California (USA). His work encompasses films, sculptures, photographs, installations, sound works, and architecture, and frequently draws our attention to how we relate to the world around us.

In 2016, Doug Aitken introduced the Underwater Pavilions, one of his most ambitious projects, consisting of a trio of underwater pavilions off the coast of Catalina Island, California. The following year, he inaugurated Mirage, a sculpture site-specific in the form of a house covered in mirrors located in the heart of the Californian desert, later installed in Detroit (USA, 2018), and in Gstaad (Switzerland, 2019). Among his main exhibitions is the 2016 retrospective at MOCA – Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (USA).
