Deslocamentos (2021)
On display from December 2021 to April 2022, the exhibition was part of the Inhotim 2021 Inaugurations program – December and is part of the Specific Territory program.
Displacements is a group exhibition that reflects on the theme of "displacement," whether from physical or imagined places, from sensory or ideological perspectives. The exhibition features works by Cerith Wyn Evans, Gordon Matta-Clark, Jorge Macchi, Laura Lima, Matheus Rocha Pitta, On Kawara, Raquel Garbelotti, Rivane Neuenschwander, Rodrigo Matheus, Rubens Mano, and Sara Ramo.
Permeating the works are issues such as the occupation of space, the contradictions of global capitalism and the geopolitical design of social inequalities, the transformation and exploitation of nature, migration between different territories, and consumerism.
Ultimately, if in antiquity the first travelers (or first foreigners) inaugurated routes, in the last decades of the 20th century, the notions of space, territory, and border, in the context of globalization, acquire new definitions and produce new material and immaterial realities, mediated by the intense flow of goods, capital, and individuals. Movement takes on a different meaning, provoking new forms of recording.
The exhibition is part of the program Specific Territory, the research focus that guides Inhotim's programming for the 2021-2022 biennium.
