Majestic, coryphae can reach heights of 25 meters and possess the largest cluster of flowers in the plant kingdom, forming an expanded halo beyond their leaves. Their flowering, a unique event in their life, occurs between 40 and 80 years of age.
Millions of hermaphrodite flowers and thousands of seeds are produced, and then its greenish-brown fruits take about a year to ripen before the palm begins to die. The leaves are used for roofing, mats, umbrellas, and furniture.
