A highly ornamental palm, the aricuri adorns the Jardim Sombra e Água Fresca at Inhotim with its solitary trunk and medium size, growing between 1,6 and 4 meters in length. Very resistant, it should be grown in full sun.
A very rare species, assessed as "Critically Endangered," as it is found in the wild only on the banks of the Jequitinhonha River, in the municipality of Itapebi/BA – Brazil, with an estimated population of about 5 individuals.
Its fruits are large and its seeds have good germination rates.
