The golden areca palm impresses with the vibrant orange of its stem. The fruits are also attractive due to their variation in colors (ranging from orange to a strong red) and are used by traditional communities in Indonesia — where they originate — for ornamentation.
This species does not tolerate excessive cold or long periods of drought, preferring more tropical climates under the filtered light of other trees.
