Young Environmental Agents 2024: Selection Notice

The Inhotim Institute informs that applications for 25 places in the Young Environmental Agents Project – 2024 will be open from July 29th to August 11th, subject to the criteria and conditions established in this Call for Applications.
The Young Environmental Agents program is sponsored by Vale and Unimed-BH, through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive.
- BASIC INFORMATION
1.1. What is the purpose of this Call for Proposals?
Selection of participants for the “Young Environmental Agents” (also known as “JAA”) – 2024 Edition – for the training of young people in the themes of art, culture and nature, through experiences and immersions aimed at stimulating youth leadership.
1.2. What is the Young Environmental Agents Project?
The Young Environmental Agents (JAA) project is an ongoing training program for students enrolled in public schools in the municipality of Brumadinho. It aims to encourage youth leadership focused on good socio-environmental practices, with weekly meetings at the Inhotim Institute, led by educators from the education department, and including guest speakers and field trips for immersion and research.
It is also within its scope that participants develop and execute a final project, with the presence of a guest mentor to guide this stage of the project.
1.3. What is the registration period?
Registration will be open from July 29, 2024 until 11:59 PM on August 11, 2024.
1.4. Do I need to pay any fees or monthly charges to register?
Registration is free. Those who are accepted will also not incur any costs related to participating in the Project.
- REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
2.1. Who can apply for the JAA 2024 project selection process?
Young people aged 14 to 16 who meet all of the following requirements may participate in this selection process:
- – To be a resident of Brumadinho/MG;
- – To be properly enrolled in the public education system;
- – Be available to participate in the project's in-person activities as described in item 2.1.2.
2.1.2 What is the schedule for the JAA 2024 project?
The activities of the Young Environmental Agents program will take place between August 17th and December 07th, 2024. Based on the theme "What is a plant?", the program consists of:
Meetings at Inhotim where the group of young people visits the museum to think about and practice the theme through the gardens, galleries, and artworks; field trips where the group of young people get to know other inspiring spaces and cultural agents for our conversations about what a plant is; immersions led by guests from diverse areas of knowledge and creation that encourage young people to think and practice on the theme; mentoring sessions where participants will be guided in the development of a collective project that responds to the theme, to be presented at the end of the journey.
In-person meetings take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 13 PM to 16 PM, and on specific Saturdays, totaling 100 hours/year (approximately 33 meetings) at the Inhotim Institute and elsewhere. In case of changes to the dates, the project team must inform participants and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
2.1.3. Is there a minimum frequency of participation in the project?
In order for the selected young person to guarantee their continued participation in all modules, they are required to attend 75% of the project activities.
If the young person has 2 (two) unexcused absences, their participation in the project will be reassessed.
2.1.4. When do the in-person meetings begin?
The in-person meetings for the Young Environmental Agents program will begin on August 21, 2024.
2.2. How many places are available for participation in the Project?
Twenty-five (25) places will be offered for entry into the Young Environmental Agent program.
- REGISTRATION AND SELECTION
3.1. How do I register?
3.1.1. Fill out the online form at this link.
3.1.2. Submission of original material in which the candidate answers the question: "What is a plant to you?"
3.1.3. The candidate must produce the material using only one of the following artistic mediums: drawing, painting, collage, photography, text, video, audio, etc.
3.1.4. The produced material must be submitted in the following formats: PDF, Video (maximum 3 minutes) or Audio (maximum 3 minutes), with a maximum size of 1GB.
3.2. How will the applications be evaluated?
Applicants will be selected by a selection committee, composed of members of the education board of the Inhotim Institute, based on an evaluation of the application form and the material produced; the submission of these materials is an elimination criterion.
3.3. What will be the criteria for selecting participants?
- Complete filling out of the form and submission of the material;
- You should answer the question, "What is a plant to you?" Don't stray from the topic when creating the material.
- Creativity and originality. Think of this material as a way to help us get to know you better.
- Authorization from parents or guardians for participation in the project.
- SELECTION RESULTS
4.1. When and where will the list of approved candidates be announced?
The Commission will announce the names of the selected candidates on August 15, 2024, via telephone contact and a list of approved candidates on the website, for the start of activities on August 21, 2024, upon presentation of identification documents and the Authorization Forms requested at the time of contact with the approved candidates.
- BUDGETARY RESOURCES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
5.1. Who is sponsoring the Young Environmental Agents program in 2024?
The Young Environmental Agents program is supported by Vale as its main sponsor and has Volvo as its Gold Sponsor and Unimed as its Silver Sponsor through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive.
5.2 Do I receive any type of financial compensation for participating in the Young Environmental Agents program?
No. Participation in the Young Environmental Agents project does not create any type of employment relationship, scholarship payment, or any other form of remuneration.
- LOGISTICS OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS
6.1. How will I get to Inhotim on the days of the meetings?
The Young Environmental Agents Project will provide free round-trip transportation for approved participants to all in-person meetings of the Project.
6.2. Will I need to purchase any materials to participate in the meetings?
All materials that may be used during the Project meetings will be provided by the Inhotim Institute, free of charge for participants.
6.3. Do I need specific clothing to attend the project meetings?
All approved participants will receive a uniform t-shirt from the Young Environmental Agents Project. Wearing it is mandatory at meetings and field trips.
6.4. Will food be provided?
Yes. Lunch will be provided free of charge at the Inhotim staff restaurant, as well as a snack at the end of the meetings.
6.5. Will there be any expenses for participating in external activities?
For outdoor activities, the Inhotim Institute will provide transportation and meals to participants free of charge.
