Traveling Workshop

The Traveling Atelier understands all the spaces of the museum and botanical garden as places of experience that involve diverse artistic languages. Each week, our atelier moves to a different location, investigating how each space helps us discover ways to create and experience art and nature. In July, this program is even more intense.

Discover the schedule for the Circulating Workshop in August.

O Ateliê Circulante tem a Vale como Mantenedora Master e a Parceria Estratégica da Cemig por meio da Lei Federal de Incentivo à Cultura.

  • Microscopic Landscapes, by Laura Matos

The workshop invites the public to create paintings that relate forms seen under a microscope to the landscapes of Inhotim. The activity draws on personal memories and ancestral knowledge to investigate relationships between the body, nature, and different time scales.

    August 2th and 3th, at 14pm

25 places available | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Jardim Veredas [J5] | Registration on site | Rating: suitable for all ages

  • Nothing is lost, everything becomes a meme.

In this Circulating Workshop, Inhotim's artistic and botanical collection serves as a starting point for creating memes from selected images. Using humor and the viral logic of the internet, we investigate how ideas and images replicate, transform, and influence our culture. The work Zé Carioca and his friends (2005), by Rivane Neuenschwander, exemplifies this approach by subverting a pop icon to question stereotypes and cultural narratives.

    August 9th and 10th, at 14pm

25 places available | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Galeria Mata [G1] | Registration on site | Rating: Suitable for all ages

  • Negotiating Borders, by Clara Duarte

Inspired by Paulo Nazareth's exhibition "Esconjuro," how about rethinking what we understand by cartography, borders, and nationality? What maps do we carry within ourselves, and what "invisible borders" surround and inhabit us? In this workshop, we will create an ephemeral map together using natural pigments. What would it be like to draw a territory made of memories and experiences? What voices and stories might emerge from this collective construction?

    August 16th and 17th, at 14pm

25 places available | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Galeria Praça [G3] | Registration on site | Rating: suitable for all ages

  • Threads and memories, by Isadora Godoy

In August, the public at Inhotim is invited to participate in a weaving experience at the Claudia Andujar | Maxita Yano Gallery. Inspired by the work Memoria de las Manos (2007-2018) by Bolivian artist Elvira Espejo, the Circulating Workshop Threads and Memories invites people of all ages to experience the ancestral technique of weaving. Between threads and nets, how do we weave our memories?

    August 23, 24 and 30*, at 14 PM

*The workshop on August 30th will have sign language interpretation.

25 places available | Duration: 2 hours | Location: Claudia Andujar Gallery | Maxita Yano [G23] | Registration on site | Rating: suitable for all ages
