Yayoi Kusama  NARCISSUS GARDEN INHOTIM 2009
Nagano, Japan, 1929; lives in Tokyo, Japan

In this new version of Yayoi Kusama’s landmark sculpture of 1966, five hundred gleaming stainless steel spheres float in the rooftop water garden of Inhotim’s newly completed Burle Marx Education Center. This cornerstone of feminist art is a large-scale sculpture that nevertheless dematerializes, moving organically in reaction to wind and reflecting nature around it.
