Rivane Neuenschwander’s work is installed in a diminutive farmhouse, dating back to 1874, the oldest construction of the farm from which Inhotim originated. Continent/Cloud (2007) is a kinetic work occupying the entire ceiling of the house. It consists of tiny white Styrofoam balls randomly moving over a translucent ceiling, activated by circulated air. This stimulus creates monochrome abstract forms that allude to both cartographic maps and the movement of the clouds in the sky.
