Jorge Macchi PISCINA 2009
Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1963; lives in Buenos Aires
Since the beginning of his practice, Jorge Macchi has made watercolors of commonplace objects re-imagined as surrealistic situations reflecting different psychological states. Until now these only existed as two-dimensional pictures. Inhotim invited the artist to render one of his watercolors for the first time in three-dimensional form: Piscina (2009) is thus a sculptural realization of the artist’s drawing of a telephone address book with alphabetized tabs, here transformed into a site-specific work that is also functioning swimming pool.
