Redondo Beach, United States, 1968; lives in Los Angeles, United States
Approached along an isolated forested path, Sonic Pavilion (2009) is a small hilltop building in which visitors listen to a continuous live feed of sounds projected from a couple hundred meters within the earth via geological microphones. The work accesses something otherwise imperceptible, creating a site-specific situation in which architecture fuses with an invisible artwork that is ever changing, living and breathing, interacting with the visitor.
