Installed in the roof of the pavilion, Passarinhos de Inhotim a Demini [Birds from Inhotim to Demini, 2008] is an enlarged version of the installation Pássaros da Amazônia [Amazonian birds, 2003]. After having spent time living in the Demini village of the yanomami people, the artist created this work for an exhibition about the yanomami, drawing inspiration from the traditional significance of birds to the indigenous peoples of Amazonia. The installation on show here has been enhanced with representations of birds typically found in this region of the state of Minas Gerais, following an investigation conducted by the environment team at Inhotim.
