Inhotim opens store in Belo Horizonte

As of today, the Savassi neighborhood in Belo Horizonte is even more charming with the opening of Inhotim’s first concept-store. The space, named Inhotim Box, was conceived to be a gateway to the park in the capital city of Minas Gerais and offers several items that translate the identity of the Institute. “Our idea is to bring Inhotim even closer and expand the experience of visiting the Institute to products that carry our DNA”, explains Cristiana Paz, manager of Inhotim stores.

In the new store, you will find publications about our collections, seedlings of plants found in our gardens, posters, in addition to Inhotim’s entire institutional line, including souvenirs such as pencils and notebooks, clothes and accessories. In synch with the actions carried out by the Institute, the items prioritize recyclable materials and have a sustainable appeal. For instance, PET bottles are part of the composition of the canvas used to make our bags, and the T-shirts are made of ecofriendly fabric.

Inhotim ceramics, handmade in the park since 2010, also have a new look. The name now is Cerâmica Oti and the company identity has been restructured. The items are now organized in collections, with innovative shapes and colors, and during the store’s grand opening, it will be possible to see a preview. Also new is the line of jewelry especially created for Inhotim by designer Lúcia Lou.

    Inhotim + Osklen

    Inhotim + Osklen

Inhotim is an inspiring place. It is a unique destination, where nature, art and architecture coexist in total harmony. Gardens, native forest, galleries and outdoor artworks have the power to make you reflect. The suspicious, seduced, restless look is enchanted – or shocked – by each curve in the path. In fact, strolling around the park is an invitation to perceive the world.

This universe of meanings and possibilities enchanted Oskar Metsavaht, creative director for Osklen. In an unprecedented partnership with Inhotim, he and his team spent a week immersed into the Institute, creating and registering the 2015 summer collection of the Rio de Janeiro brand. “Inhotim is a unique experience. A must-see. The desire to express this experience led me to photograph and tape the way I feel and perceive this place”, he reveals.

The result of this innovative project goes beyond bringing the beauty of the park to the foreground, and impacts the park’s economic sustainability. This is so because part of the value of Osklen Inhotim products will be allotted to maintain the Institute. The products will be in stores in September and some items will even be sold at Inhotim.

Check out Oskar Metsavaht’s testimony in portuguese on this piece of news:

    Be Ready!

    Be Ready!

Are you planning your visit to Inhotim? Check out everything you need to take to the park, as well as what you need to wear, to make the most of this experience.

    Wear comfortable clothes

Currently, Inhotim has 110 acres open for visitation. Just to give you idea, this corresponds to more than 100 soccer fields! Therefore, choosing light and appropriate clothing is crucial to walk around artworks and galleries. As for footwear, prefer closed shoes, like sneakers, since there are paths with ups and downs, cobbled streets and passages within the forest.

    Organize your bag

Write this down: a camera is essential. The art-garden duo, together with a landscape that mixes Atlantic Forest and Cerrado (Brazilian Savannah), is unique and yields incredible images. Photos are not allowed inside the galleries, but outdoors, the sky is the limit for creativity! Those who use their cellphones to shoot and access the Instagram app can even use the hashtag #inhotim to post. Make sure you don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and a jacket, as in autumn and winter the days begin with the region’s typical cold mist.

    Check the weather forecast

If the day is hot, a cap or a hat will protect you from the sun. Tip: To stay hydrated, carry a bottle of water on hand. Even though it is not allowed to bring food and drinks into Inhotim, you can fill up your water bottle in one of the water fountains located at strategic points around the park, such as at the reception, the exit from Galeria Adriana Varejão or the entrance of the letters garden by Marilá Dardot. If the forecast is for rain, take an umbrella or raincoat along.

    Be ready to learn

O Inhotim is a place of art, botanic, architecture, but especially a place of transformation. Besides the fact that the collection and the physical spaces are constantly expanding, visiting the park is an emotional and sensitive experience capable of awakening new ways to look at the world. Because of that, having pencil and paper to write down your feelings on the way can help you organize this turmoil so you can reflect on the whole tour.

    Good memories

    Good memories

Those who love museum gift shops cannot miss out on two very special spaces at Inhotim, which are filled with memories of the visit to park. Opened in 2007, the Intitute’s design store has a diversified mix of products, including books, DVDs, decorative pieces, sustainable toys, accessories as well as Inhotim’s institutional line, which has just been launched. Don’t you know it yet? The collection includes notebooks, pencils, mugs, shirts, ecobags, handbags, among others, with prices to fit all pockets. To make products even more charming, the Inhotim brand transformed into a typographic pattern, appearing in cobalt blue, red, green and black.

The other space is dedicated to botany and sells species that can be found in the Institute’s collection, as well as gardening tools, home furnishings and utensils produced at the Ceramics Oti factory, located at Inhotim. The nicest thing about it is that those who enjoy plants can take home seedlings planted in handmade pots made by residents of Brumadinho,  during workshops aimed at the community. It is worth mentioning that selling products is a way to make the institution sustainable, as it is a source of income that allows the park to keep on receiving visitors from around the world.
